The Eels foot, a hidden gem outside Minsmere nature reserve, try their wood fired pizza and enjoy a walk-through diverse habitat.

The Plough and Sail at Snape family owned and thriving by offering consistently delicious pub food, elevated with little touches whilst still in a relaxed pub with open fire and lots of dog walkers.

The White Hart Inn, (aka the Potty bar), Aldeburgh Highstreet. Quirky and cosy, an ale enthusiasts pub.

The Mariners, Woodbridge. One of many pubs in Woodbridge, but one of the best, a wide selection of drinks, relaxed atmosphere with great service and an array of bar snacks.

The Laxfield Low House, A bit further afield from Outside Aldeburgh but well work a stop if passing. A lovely village and a fascinating pub with a traditional bar serving pints straight from the barrel and low beams and wobbly floor boards galore. A window back in time.

The Harbour Inn, Southwold. Positioned precariously close the tidal river Blyth, guests enter down stairs into a very cozy and olde world pub with reminders on the walls of historical floods. Look out for the ordering hatch where you peak upstairs from where the beer and food orders are taken, or head up to the child free bar to order face to face. A walk along the river to see the boat yards and fishermen’s stalls is recommended.

The Anchor, Woodbridge, has a brilliant food offering and is a very popular pub just opposite the river and train station. Excellent lunches and evening meals with classical dishes as well as French and Asian inspired options.

The Turks Head, Hasketon, (shown above) another hidden gem, a beautifully refurbished pub with a substantial and well appointed garden. Gastro pub food and more formal service, booking is recommended.

The Unruly Pig, Bromeswell (nr Woodbridge) award winning restaurant serving very high quality food. It wont take long to find rave reviews online, if you want to impress or be impressed, book ahead and enjoy! Voted No 1 in the Estrella Damm Gastro Pub Awards 2022.

The Nelson, Southwold. Just of the high street and overlooking the cliffs of Southwold Beach, the Nelson is a small but perfectly formed pub. Hugely popular in the summer, guests spill over onto the small street outside and enjoy the very locally brewed Adnams ale with a sharing plate of food recommended.

The Thorpeness Dolphin, very local to outside Aldeburgh and sister pub of the even more local Parrot, these locations offer great pub food and service. The Dolphin inn being recommended with it being close to the mere and beach for another great reason to be out and about in Suffolk.

The Crown at Westleton, booking recommended, a very popular hotel and restaurant on route to Dunwich, in-between Aldeburgh and Southwold.

The White Hart Blythburgh, set just off the A12 in a convenient stop off location this pub is right by the River Blyth with excellent walking and bird watching opportunities.

The Ship Inn, Dunwich, another great coastal pub, serving excellent fish and chips, local gammon and many well kept beers. A great garden on a hot day and a chance to walk around the historic village of Dunwich previously a large town now consumed by coastal erosion.

The Bell inn, and the Anchor Inn at Walberswick, are also both worth mentioning, not far apart but In a very popular location, it tends to be a case of getting into which you can. Just over the river from Southwold Walberswick is a really unique location, from its white sand dunes to its mass of crabbing lines and its village green, its no wonder so many celebrities have bought up and bolted themselves away in this area.

The Maybush at Waldringfield offers the most spectacular views across the river Deben, and is the perfect stop off after a wintry walk. It’s part of the Deben’s Inns group, which have several pubs in Suffolk. Download their app for lots of offers, including 2 for 1 Sunday Roasts after 4pm!

Last up on our lists are the Poachers Pocket in Kelsale and The Fox at Darsham. They both offer a great menu, with the Pizzas at the Poacher’s pocket and the Burgers at the Fox being our favourites.
