Discover Aldeburgh and beyond

Outside Aldeburgh is situated just 2.5 miles from the renowned coastal town of Aldeburgh, which has something to offer for everyone. Whether you’re after fish and chips on the beach, or a fine dining experience you’ll be sure to find something to tickle your taste buds.

Aldeburgh has a great range of independent shops, galleries and cafés. We recommend the Regatta, Lighthouse and Sea Spice to name a few restaurants selling fresh local produce. The local pubs are great too if you just fancy some well-kept ale and classic pub grub.

Just along the coast, you’ll find Thorpeness which is home to the house in the clouds, the meare and Thorpeness golf club. Thorpeness Mere and village was created after the war as a blue print for British seaside holidays. Boat and Canoe hire is available from which you can explore Peter Pan’s Islands, Wendy’s House or perhaps bump into an enormous crocodile!

Leiston, a small town is just 3 miles away. You’ll find many local amenities here, from a small supermarket, takeaways, hardware shops, a cinema and the Leisure centre. The leisure centre is great for families with two pools, sports hall and a small soft play area.

Southwold is a 25-minute drive away, and is home to well known brewer and distiller Adnams. Southwold offers the quintessential seaside experience, with the pier, arcades, rows of colourful beach huts.

The Suffolk coast is home to the Minsmere nature reserve, which has been home to Spring Watch. On route you will find the Eels Foot pub, a secluded spot home to the Spring Watch team, we recommend their wood fired pizzas freshly prepared in the beer garden.

If you head inland, Framlingham is a 30 minute drive away. The historic market town is probably best know for it’s castle, which features in Ed Sheeran’s song, and is where Ed grew up and went to school. The National Trust site is well worth a visit.

Snape Maltings is 5.5 miles away. The beautiful heritage site is home to the world-famous Concert Hall, and also boasts an array of independent shops, galleries and eateries. Aldeburgh Music Festival (June) and Aldeburgh Food and Drink Festival (September) take place here.

We also recommend a lunch at the plough and sail pub which never fails to deliver high quality and local pub food.
